Suffering From Back Pain?

Back pain can be a very debilitating experience. It can also be scary. The idea that you can’t move through your daily life can feel overwhelming. So many activities require support from your back. Sitting, standing, sleeping, driving, working, lifting, and walking all ask something of it.

Being told you have a bad back is not my idea of a good day. The same is true for arthritis in your back, degenerative discs, herniated discs, or slipped discs. These can sound like very serious diagnoses. As a result, people often feel they will never move properly again.

I try to take the fear out of back pain

There really is a lot we can do to help. In the clinic here in Montpelier, I look at how your whole body is moving. I also look at how your pain affects your daily activities.

For some people, this shows up as stiffness. For others, it feels sharp, tight, achy, or unpredictable. It may be low back pain, upper back pain, or pain that travels into the hips. Sometimes it follows an injury. Other times, it seems to come out of nowhere. Either way, it deserves care and attention.

My approach usually includes a combination of exercises and manual therapy. The exercises help you rebuild confidence in movement. Meanwhile, manual therapy can help release restricted tissue. Together, these tools can make movement feel more possible again.

I also spend a lot of time educating. Many people need to know what back pain really means. They also need to know what is safe to do and what is not. In many cases, the body is stronger and more adaptable than people have been led to believe.

The goal is not just to chase symptoms. Instead, the goal is to help you better understand your body. From there, we can work toward easier movement, better function, and more confidence.

If you’re experiencing back pain like this, or even something completely different, please don’t hesitate to reach out. The sooner I hear from you, the sooner I can help you start finding relief.
