Why do we need to think about children’s posture? They don’t generally have any pains yet, and they’re very resilient.
While it is true that children are very resilient, we start laying down postural patterns as we live our lives, and the sooner we can address those, the sooner we’re not getting stuck into a posture that doesn’t serve us. I find children to be extremely satisfying to work with because their bodies respond so quickly to Structural Integration work.
Sometimes, when I work with a child, I realize we’ve accomplished so much in balancing their structure in one session, whereas typically it would take two or three sessions to accomplish the same with an adult. We can often address issues like scoliosis, a tendency to walk up on their toes, slouching, or different neurological challenges.
I find Structural Integration to really be helpful in addressing these patterns, which helps children to move forward in the world more fully, where everything is more accessible to them.
